NaPoWriMo 2022: A Mini Contest
If you're reading this, my fellow writers must be taking a well-deserved break from writing amazing poetry for NaPoWriMo. If you are not familiar with National Poetry Writing Month, you might want to stop by @Medoriko's group @NaPoWriMo— and check it out. This year is a first for me— challenging myself to write 30 poems in 30 days, which is no easy task! For many, this is an annual event, and cause for celebration. Mini Contest Details Have a NaPoWriMo poem you think is worthy of note? Read below to learn more! :star: Share one of your poems below in the comments. I, along with anyone who wants to help out as a judge, will pick a favorite — and this will be based on three important things: the creativity of your poem, how well it tackles its general theme, and its overall mechanics. :star: After you post your favorite poem in the comments, tell me why it is your favorite — not just "I like this one the best." Give a thoughtful reason in a single sentence

The Gear Against the Steed
I saw them. Of this there is no denial. A Vision. A Fantasy. An Illusion. These words matter not. They were seen. One, an Eternal Citadel, shaped from equal parts Steel, Bark, Stone, Fire, and Word. The second, an Impossible Nightmare, clad in unnatural garb shielding it from both Fletchet and Verse, atop a steed not of any world known. The ticking of the years, and onto a stance where such metrics weigh to the point non-existence, formed, contributed, and added to presence these monstrosities. It was only a matter of time. As saplings taste their first breath of Air, and are at once trembled by the experience and the concurrent sensation of sunlight, and a most divine third course that only naturally follows. “There is so much more.” Fueled not only by the Earth beneath them, but by the lasting Light above them, and a newfound Flame within their core; a desire for more. Those first saplings are now long beyond. Yet they demanded more even in death, and passed this demand to

Undertale / Deltarune contrasts (sp)
While I haven't played the second chapter of Deltarune yet - which I plan to - I noticed a few things that were contrasts from Undertale and Deltarune. While some are common knowledge, others felt a bit more cryptic. - The main character, Kris, is seen as the creepy kid by his peers, and is the only human in the entire setting. Compared to Frisk from Undertale who was well-liked (depending on the route you undertake), Kris is either ignored or looked down upon due to being an attention-seeker and a trouble-maker. - Asriel, while absent in the current chapters, is seen as a well-loved and successful person. From what is seen, Kris likes being around him as well, even if Asriel is painted as an over-achiever, while Kris... is not. - Toriel, in Undertale, said that she always wanted to be a teacher. In Deltarune, that's the case. However, both games still have a fallout between her and Asgore, though the reason for that in Deltarune is yet to be told. - Asgore, the King of the

Hatred A translated newspaper piece from September 1st, 2021 by Richard Martineau translated by me -------------------------- In all my years, never have I seen so much hatred towards politicians. Nearly every sign I see while going to work bares either the all-to-common scribbled stache, a Nazi cross, insultes or holes for eyes. In the 1975 movie "Shivers", canadian director David Cronenberg showed us what would happen if people lost control of their libido, if they let their most debaucherous sexual appetites loose. The result? Enslaved by their passion, these zombie-like people spent all their time screwing around everywhere - in elevators, malls, halls, shops... Nowadays, it feels like we are living in that movie. Only, instead of showing off our darkest sexual appetites without remorse to every passing stranger, we show off our most cowardly actions. Our jealousy, prejudices and pettiness. "A man holds it in.", said Albert Camus' father. "That's what makes a man. If

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) Review!
Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is The Mystery Writer speaking, and welcome to the show! Today, I am reviewing Godzilla vs. Kong, the latest Monsterverse film from Legendary Studios. Now, I've been a life-long fan of Godzilla and all things monsters, and I have reviewed the first two Legendary Godzilla films here on DA. How does this latest installment stand up compared to the first two Godzilla films? So, I'm just going to give a brief rundown on the plot. The film is still somewhat new after all, and I would hate to spoil it for anyone. So we begin the movie with King Kong in a bio-enclosure on Skull Island, as it is slowly being destroyed by a raging storm, and Generic Scientist #1 is studying him alongside her def daughter. Meanwhile, a whistleblower breaks into the Pensacola, Florida location of Apex Robotics just before Godzilla attacks it out of the blue. The founder alongside the lead scientist of Apex Robotics, meets Generic Scientist #2, a professor who has tried to prove

Spiral From the Book of Saw (2021) Review!
Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is The Mystery Writer speaking, and welcome to the show! Today, I am reviewing Spiral: From the Book of Saw. Now, the Saw series has had a rather complex history within the horror genre. The first film is credited as bringing the rise of the Torture Porn subgenre of horror in the 2000s, and a slew of copycats followed suit with varying degrees of success. Heck, even the later sequels tried to imitate yet failed to recapture the grandeur of the original. Honestly, as someone who has seen all the Saw films, the first three and Jigsaw were by far the best ones, with everything from Saw 4 onward had serious issues from underdeveloped characters, pointless gore, an overcomplicated plot or lack of a plot, and not being memorable, these films lacked the majesty of the original film. Was Spiral yet another lazy sequel not worth your time to see, or was it a good horror film? Let's find out, but first, a brief plot summary. This film is still new, so I won't be
